This young killer whale was originally created to go on a silk screen. The killer whale is part of a series called "Formline Babies," depicting young Southeast Alaskan animals. The series is based on traditional Tlingit design rendered in a minimalist form.
Crystal Worl is Tlingit from the Raven Sockeye Clan and Raven House in Haines, Alaska. From her mother's side, she is Deg Hit'an Athabascan from Fairbanks, Alaska. Crystal holds a Bachelor's of Fine Art in Studio Arts from the Institute of American Indian arts. Her work explores the relationships and bonds between her people, the land, and animals. Today, Crystal lives in Juneau as co-owner of Trickster Company. Trickster Company promotes innovative Indigenous designs focused on Northwest Coast art and the exploration of themes and issues in Native culture.
